What we did in class today:

Sorry guys, sick today (actually all weekend).

Hopefully you were able to complete the assignment in class–read “The Prison” (155) and answer these–The Prison reading questions.

 

HW:

  • We are finally switching over to a new platform.  Check your email for the invitation to participate in a class at Canvas.instructure.com.  Click on the link to get started.  It will take you to the course, you can look around, but make sure you accept the invitation.  Otherwise, you’ll remain pending. Announcements, assignments, etc  will be here from now on.
  • The test on the 4 stories will be on Thursday.

Wednesday 10.3

What we did in class today:

  • Discussed and took great notes on your Wharton group insights from Monday’s questions
  • Began Saki’s “Sredni Vishtar”
    • On a sheet of paper, record questions that you have about the short story
    • Briefly describe the similarities between the stories of Hawthorne, Wharton and Saki

HW:

  • Read the Saki Bio and background (we’ll finish the story on Friday)
  • Stay on track by reading “The Lady in the Looking Glass: A Reflection” by Woolf
  • Virginia Woolf Bio
  • Watch Who Killed Mrs De Roppif you like
    • Parts 1-4 (2007 BBC–the middle of Part 3 and into Part 4 is “Sredni Vishtar”) begin at 7:29 min

Tuesday 9.25

What we did in class today:

  • Picked up new scholarships
  • Announcements for Discussion Board:
    • Cite your references (even if you’re reading Sparknotes, cite it!)
    • Zeros will be given for plagiarized discussion boards
  • Reading Quiz (you have 1 week to make this up if you have a legitimate absence)
  • Discuss Hawthorne’s “The Hollow of the Three Hills”

  • Took Part I test on Passage (clicker test)
